Country Homemakers' Club Records

Abstract The Country Club began around 1912. In 1924, its name was changed to the Country Homemakers' Club, located in the Amenia area of Cass County, N.D. It was considered unusual for the time because it was the only one in Cass County that had two meetings a month— "one a social and one a business. The club consists of women who stand out individually as real leaders." Abstract The Elizabeth Preston Anderson Papers document the life and activities of a woman who influenced North Dakota politics by resisting efforts to reintroduce liquor to a dry state, by battling along with the suffragists to obtain the vote for North Dakota women, and by espousing a rigid moral program.‟ Her papers have been organized into four series: Correspondence, Autobiography, Histories, Pamphlets and Brochures, Speeches, Western Womanhood, and White Ribbon Bulletin.
